Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?

from the poem "The Summer Day" by Mary Oliver

Sometimes people come to spiritual direction for one specific purpose:  to discover their life's work, whether that means a job in the marketplace, working in one's home, or a new purpose in retirement. In spiritual direction, the question becomes, "What is God's desire for my life's work?"

This question is at the heart of vocational discernment, a spiritual practice that helps a person sift and sort through facts, feelings and intuition in order to come to some clarity around their vocation.

A spiritual director can help a person do the sifting and sorting. We ask the important questions that help you clarify where and how you are being invited by God to action in the world. We will point you to time-tested traditions and principles that have helped many other people over the ages discern what God's desire was for them.

Teresa has experience in the field of vocational discernment, working with the Fund for Theological Education's "Volunteers Exploring Vocation" project with Young Adult Volunteers in Mission since 2004.
